RSC Women's Soccer Championship qualifiers and seedings released

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The 2023 River States Conference Women's Soccer Championship qualifiers and seeds have been determined after the completion of the RSC regular season on Saturday, Oct. 28. The top eight teams in the points standings will battle it out Nov. 4-11 at campus sites. 

Indiana University Kokomo claimed the No. 1 seed by completing an undefeated conference regular season on Saturday. The Cougars (10-3-5) were 8-0-2 RSC with 26 total points to win the RSC regular-season championship.

IU Kokomo begins the RSC Championship Nov. 4 by hosting No. 8 seed WVU Tech (4-12-1, 3-7 RSC) in the quarterfinal round. The winner of that game will face the winner of No. 5 Shawnee State (Ohio) (7-9-1, 6-3-1 RSC) at No. 4 IU East (5-6-6, 5-1-4 RSC) in another quarterfinal matchup. 

Both IU East and Shawnee State totaled 19 points in the standings with IU East getting the fourth seed by virtue of a head-to-head win over the Bears. 

Point Park (Pa.) University earned the No. 2 seed and leads the other side of the bracket. The Pioneers (10-4-4, 7-1-2 RSC) had 23 points in the standings and host No. 7 seed Midway (Ky.) University (7-5-1, 4-5-1 RSC) in the quarterfinals. 

University of Rio Grande (Ohio) is the No. 3 seed with a total of 21 points. The RedStorm (6-5-4, 6-1-3 RSC) welcome No. 6 St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) (5-6-5, 4-3-3 RSC) in its quarterfinal matchup. The Rio Grande-SMWC winner will face the Point Park-Midway winner. 

The quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinals on Nov. 8 with the finals set for Nov. 11. The RSC Championship winner will earn automatic qualification to the NAIA National Championship. RSC women's soccer has one bid to the NAIA national tournament this year.
