All-RSC Men's Basketball Teams & Awards announced for 2023-24 season
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The All-River States Conference Men's Basektball Teams & Awards are announced here at RiverStatesConference.com for the 2023-24 season.
Cobie Barnes from St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) College headlines the awards the RSC Player of the Year and RSC Newcomer of the Year. The Pomeroys also had a big award for their head coach Jesse McClung as the RSC Coach of the Year.
The All-RSC Teams were voted on by the league's head coaches. The All-RSC First, Second & Third teams included 10 players each. Also named as the RSC Men's Basketball Champions of Character Team and the All-RSC Scholar-Athlete Team.
Barnes is a senior guard from Floyds Knob, Ind. He is second in the conference averaging 23.1 points per game. Barnes is a transfer from SIU-Edwardsville in his first year at SMWC to garner RSC Newcomer of the Year honors.
McClung is in his first year as Pomeroys head coach after being a top assistant at Marian (Ind.). He has led SMWC to a big turnaound with a 25-5 record, the RSC West Division championship and an NAIA national tournament qualification in his first season.
The RSC Champions of Character Team honors one member of each team who best displays the NAIA character traits of respect, responsibility, intergrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
The RSC Scholar-Athlete Team features those student-athletes who have at least a 3.25 GPA in the sport of men's basketball with at least one year at their current school.
