IU Kokomo at Top of RSC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio- The women's soccer coaches of the River States Conference have picked the Cougars of Indiana University Kokomo as the favorites for the 2024 season, as the Cougars claimed the top spot in the 2024 RSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The poll, announced Tuesday by the River States Conference office, saw each of the conference's ten head coaches rank the other member schools in order of predicted finish.

IU Kokomo has lost just one conference match in the past two seasons, winning the RSC regular season and tournament title in both seasons. The University of Rio Grande, who took the Cougars to penalty kicks in the championship of the 2023 River States Conference Tournament championship match, rank second, earning one first place vote.

Shawnee State placed third in the preseason coaches' poll, with IU East placing fourth. IU East earned the other of the ten first place votes. The top five is rounded out by the Pomeroys of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

The bottom half of the poll sees Midway place sixth, Brescia at seventh, WVU Tech eighth, Oakland City checking in at ninth, and IU Columbus rounding out the conference at tenth

Three teams will play on the first day of allowable competition, as Rio Grande, IU Kokomo, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods all play games on the road on Thursday, August 15. Conference play is scheduled to begin Thursday, September 26, with a pair of matchups - WVU Tech heads to the Hoosier State for a meeting with IU Columbus, while the top two teams in the preseason poll, IU Kokomo and Rio Grande, face off in Kokomo.
