
IU East and WVU Tech tied for first with 18 holes to play in RSC Men's Golf Championship

DANIELS, W.Va. -- With 18 holes to play in the River States Conference Men's Golf Championship, IU East (Ind.) and WVU Tech are tied for first and sit atop the leaderboard that includes the top five separated by just 10 shots.
The Red Wolves fired a 13-over 301 and the Golden Bears shot a 14-over 302 in the second round to bring their 36-hole totals to 608. Rounding out the top three is Rio Grande (Ohio), who also shot a 301 on Monday, bringing their total to 612, four shots off the pace.
Midway (Ky.) moved up one spot on the leaderboard into fourth place after shooting a 12-over 300 on Monday, the best team score in the 12-team field. The Eagles enter the final round six shots off the lead, while IU Kokomo (Ind.) sits 10 shots off the lead in fifth place after shooting a 312 in the second round.
On the individual side, WVU Tech's Bryson Beaver extended his lead to four after shooting a 2-under 70 in the second round, moving to 1-under for the tournament. The sophomore poured in five more birdies on Monday to bring his tournament total to 10, the most in the field.
Four shots off the lead in a tie for second is the duo of Rodrigo Portilla of Rio Grande and Sam Firebaugh of IU East. The two each shot a 1-over 73 in the second round to bring their tournament total to 3-over 147.
Alice Lloyd's (Ky.) Mason Compton sits in fourth place with a 4-over 148, while IU East's Jake Miller rounds out the top five with a 36-hole total of a 5-over 149.
